Teenage thoughts…

I’ve been looking through old diaries and journals from middle and high school and the singular takeaway from most every page is the fact that being a teenager is hard and energies can change like the shift of a new paragraph.
I was in eighth grade when the grunge era took hold of me and my fellow 90’s kids.
Something about Pearl Jam’s Ten album catapulted me into my inner thoughts and enlightened me with the understanding that the most beautiful and pure part of art is individual interpretation.
Decades later, ‘Black’ is still my favorite Pearl Jam song. Volume up, eyes closed…and sing.
‘Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay…’ - my diaries, my journals. 🎵
I share with you an insight of my moody 14 year old self written on loose leaf notebook paper- likely in a New Smyrna Beach High classroom. Probably math. I was invariably lost in math. Kinda deep for a math class, don’t ya think?
Paper was always a safe place to tell my secrets to…me.
